Why Are You Poisoning Your Children?

Concerned, conscientious parents make choices for their kids to cut fat, sugar, cholesterol, calories and often end up exposing children to chemicals.

Sucralose, Sweet n Low, NutraSweet, Truvia, Aspartame, Sorbitol, are a few sugar replacements that have potential side effects.  These non-nutritive sweeteners are derived from anything from corn to chemicals. Sucralose, which once seemed like a safe alternative, has gone through 21 processing steps and will create symptoms such as headaches for some people. Aspartame has been shown to be a neurotoxin, sorbitol may be a trigger for cancer cells, and Truvia is chemically modified stevia.  Risking chemical burdens that alter your child’s DNA transcription or liver function does not sound like a good idea to me.  Get these out of your child’s diet NOW.  Go back to using small amounts of natural sugars. Coconut sugar is a great way to lower the glycemic index of foods and works well for baking. Try Coconut World’s link: http://www.coconutworld.biz/index.html .

Non fat or low fat food substitutes will contain chemicals.  Compare the label on whipped topping to whipped cream.  How healthy does this sound:  Water, Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (Coconut and Palm Kernel Oils)High Fructose Corn Syrup, Less than Two Percent of Sodium Caseinate (from Milk)Natural and Artificial Flavor, Xanthan and Guar Gums, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Monostearate, Beta Carotene (Color).  Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated “anything,” High Fructose Corn Syrup, Artificial Flavor, and Sorbitan do not belong in a human body.  While these are “Generally Recognized as Safe” by the FDA, the human body will not generally recognize these chemicals as “food.”  Stick with the non hydrogenated foods that you find in the fruit and vegetable grocery sections, meat market’s lean meats, non hydrogenated fats/oils, and organic sprouted grains (gluten free, preferably).  Annies’s Homegrown http://www.annies.com/home , and Betty Lou’s http://www.bettylousinc.com/ are a couple of my favorites for healthier manufactured snacks on-the-go.

Please reconsider feeding your children (and yourselves) pre-made low calorie meals.  The list of ingredients should be your first clue that these are Man-U-Fractured foods. Here is a list of ingredients for chicken alfredo from a popular low fat frozen meal:  Skim Milk, Blanched Enriched Pasta (Water, Enriched Semolina, Herb Glazed Chicken White Meat (Cooked Chicken White Meat, Water, Seasoning (Salt, Maltodextrin, Garlic, Sugar, Spices, Dextrose, Yeast Extract, Soybean Oil, Chicken Fat, Natural Flavor, Isolated Soy Protein, Modified Corn Starch, Caramel Coloring, Maltodextrin, Sodium Phosphate, Canola Oil), Modified Cornstarch, Cheese Flavor, Salt, Disodium Phosphate, Natural Flavors, Soybean Oil, Salt, Yeast Extract, Spices, Flavor (Maltodextrin, Flavoring And Modified Food Starch), Whey Protein Concentrate, Mono-&Diglycerides, Whey, Carrageenan, Seasoning (Wheat Starch, Natural Flavor), Lactic Acid, Calcium Lactate, Seasoning (Maltodextrin, Flavor, Enzyme Modified Butterfat). Too many maltodextrins, sugars, natural flavors, salts, cornstarch, modified food starches, and modified foods for my taste.  Don’t train your children to take these short cuts.  It only takes 20-30 minutes to prepare a fresh, healthy meal, which is the same amount of time it takes to bake a tv dinner.

Some individuals will need gluten/dairy/wheat free restricitons. I have blood/serum, saliva, and stool tests available to determine any special dietary needs.

Pre-packaged foods are sprayed with preservatives, coated in plastic, and served in metal-lined containers. Get these chemicals out of your kitchen, out of your lunch boxes and out of your bodies.  You will be glad you did. And, remember, the best use for your microwave is to warm your empty dinner plates before dinner and disinfect your kitchen sponge! Microwaving your foods on a regular basis is not recommended.
